For more than four years, whilst living in the heart of New York City, Anthony spent the dark hours on late night dumpster diving expeditions, bringing home so much edible, discarded fresh produce that he had to stay up an extra few hours to process and juice it all so it could fit in his fridge. He never spent more than $10USD a month on food. Anthony also began wild food foraging in such unlikely places as Central Park and today continues to promote the importance of wild foods in our diet.

When Anthony’s blog first started, he was very adamant about being 100% raw vegan. In a way he was extremist about it and believed animal products were verily poison to the human body. After a lot of soul searching and constant self education, he now eats a more flexible diet that is mostly raw but also includes raw eggs and dairy- he stresses the importance of constant evolution and escaping from the dogma that surrounds any movement. His courage in admitting his change of views always struck me as an example of his honesty, openness and fearlessness. His blog has many readers who have heated discussions in the comments section because he delves into important issues and is unafraid to be challenged.

Now Anthony is a self taught permaculturalist who has created a magical food forest in Minnesota after only two years of intermittent but efficient work, complete with a winterised biodome greenhouse with a hot tub in the center! From a barren piece of land with poor soil, he now only has to minimally maintain an abundant food forest that produces so much food he doesn’t know what to do with it! 

Anthony’s attitude that nothing is impossible is obvious in what he has achieved, even growing wild tropical fruits such as sapote, cacao and bananas in the freezing Minnesota winter! Influenced by Vladimir Megre’s Anastasia (Ringing Cedars) series, he creates Spaces of Love and actively believes in, as well as builds, paradise on Earth.

The Trecena of Light

Light is the ultimate source of all life. Born of the sun and the stars, Light cannot be seen yet illuminates all else. It exists both as waves and as particles and is the fastest elemental force in the universe. For us, it is also an eternal source of inspiration and insight, truth and clarity, art and creativity. Like the values and truths it embodies, Light allows for no excuses, no weakness, no failures of character or ability. All of the Earth’s peoples, cultures, and races have turned their faces to the sun since the beginning of time, whether in joy, wonder or adoration. In fact, so have all living things, whether plants, insects or animals. Even the greater forces that shape our world, from climate to the oceans, respond and interact with Light. There is perhaps nothing more natural than for Life to align with Light in a sacred dance of co-existence and co-creation.

In the Mayan Calendar, Ahau is the Lord of Light, embodying the highest potential of all life and illuminating the infinite sacred journeys of evolution along which all living things travel.

Your challenge in the Trecena of Ahau is to purify your light so that the path you travel may be clear and apparent. You may burn away the fog of uncertainty, fear, doubt and superstition, but the real test comes in not allowing them to return.

"When the human genome was first deciphered more than a decade ago, some scientists expected to find extra genes that explained why humans had an intellectual edge over their closest living relatives and other species. But since diverging from chimpanzees around seven million years ago, it turns out that our human ancestors lost several hundred snippets of DNA, which together led to traits that are uniquely human, the researchers claim.

In ditching these chunks of DNA, our ancient ancestors lost facial whiskers and short, tactile spines on their penises. The latter development is thought to have paved the way for more intimate sex and monogamous relationships. The loss of other DNA may have been crucial in allowing humans to grow larger brains."

It's very interesting to compare characteristics of different species but this does not mean they evolved from eachother Darwinian style. This is a big topic but one of my favourite takes is from David Wolfe:
"If the Theory of Evolution were correct, species ought to be fluid at the present time. They should be "adapting" and turning into one another. There should actually be no species, but only a surging mass of individuals, engaged in a race towards complexity," "humanity," and "intelligence." This, of course, is not the case. The "struggle" is quite inconclusive. The lower forms, simpler--less fit?--have not died out, have not yielded to the principle of Darwinian evolution. They remain in the same form they have had for eons. Why do they never "evolve" into something "higher?"

The way we are formed is not only dependent on our DNA but also on the way it is read or transcribed.
